Time needed: 10 minutes
- Download the eero app
The eero app is free to download for Apple and Android devices. You can get the eero app by clicking the appropriate icon below:
Once you’ve downloaded the app, open it and select “Get started”. - Create an eero account
Enter your name, phone number and email address, then press next→
- Enter your verification code
You’ll receive your verification code by email to the address used to create the account. Enter the verification code and press next→
- Disconnect from your old network
The recommend method is to go into your phone’s WiFi settings and “forget” your old network. This way your phone won’t try to connect to your old network during the setup process. Once you’ve done this, press “CONTINUE WITH SETUP”.
- Select the eero device you’re setting up
Select the eero or eero Pro.
- Unplug your modem and old router from power
Many internet providers will give you modem with WiFi built in, so you may just need to unplug one device.
- Connect the eero to your modem
- Plug your eero and modem into power
Press next→ - Look for the flashing blue light
The eero app will start looking for your eero. Once your eero is found it will start flashing a blue light to indicate it’s in pairing mode.
- Name your network and set a password
It’s best to give your new WiFi network a different name than your old network. Keeping the same name may cause problems when your devices start connecting to the new network.
Try choosing a password that’s a combination of numbers, special characters, and lower and upper-case letters. This will help keep your new network secure. - Place and plug your other eero devices to power
Once you’ve set up your network, place your other eero devices near or in areas where you want to improve your WiFi signal. To achieve the best results, try keeping your eero devices within 50 feet of at least one other eero.
You’ll be asked for a general overview of your home layout, which helps the app understand where you’ve placed the other eeros. Once you’ve entered your layout info, press NEXT. - Look for the green light
Based on your placement, the eero app will select the next eero device to set up. Look for the eero device with a green light, then name the device.
- Run a placement test
The eero app will test the placement of your second eero device to make sure it’s within an acceptable range. If you’ve done a good job at placing the second eero, you can proceed with setting up the next one.
- Set up the next eero
Proceed to the next eero displaying a green light, then name it and run the placement test.
- Start connecting your devices to your new WiFi network
Once you’ve set up all of your eero devices, you can start connecting your devices to the new network. The eero app will notify you each time a new device connects to the network.
You can give custom names and icons to each device on your network to make things easier to manage.
